INTER CLUB COMPETITION:
With our results (medalists highlighted below) our club was 7th= in the points tally. The top three clubs were:
1 Counties Manukau (Auckland) 33
2 Star & Garter Tasman (Nelson region) 27
3 Ramblers (Hawkes Bay) 24
All of those clubs were a lot larger than our own!
MEDALISTS
HANDCYCLING The time trial was an excellent hand cycling course. However the road race was a different story with a number of complaints that the Montgomery hill was too difficult for riders using handcycles. Shayne Collins showed great courage to complete two of the three rounds considering for his level of ability the course would be considered "Olympic" standard! The commissaires calculated Shayne's time for a third round. Tom Scott who has slightly more movement was able to complete the three lap course, although this was by no means easy for him or the other competitors.
Tom Scott placed 2nd in the Time Trial and also 2nd in the Road race.
Shayne Collins placed 3rd in the time trial and 3rd in the Road Race.
OTHER RESULTS
The time trial was on the river-side of Wanganui out & back. The course was particularly fast with wet conditions and a breeze which picked up for riders in the afternoon. A number of fast times (including a number of personal bests) were recorded.
Eliot Crowther placed 2nd in the U23 Time Trial then backed it up with 2nd place in the U23 Road Race race. This is an outstanding effort from Eliot who has gone from strength to strength in his form this year.
Mike Jones also achieved 2nd in the Masters Men Category 2 road race. Well done!!
Courtney Lowe (represented Tauranga - but is also a club member) was 2nd in the U19 Women time trial. This was fantastic for Courtney who is a first year U19.
THIS IS HOW IT ALL HAPPENED FOR OUR CLUB RIDERS - in no particular order
