08/17/2008: "Saturday's Race - Bolten Road"

Sorry for not putting this up earlier - watching too much Olympic Games!!!!!

GO KIWIS!!!!! Well done to the track cyclists Hayden Rolesten, Ali Shanks & the Pursuit Team... Go for Gold!!!

Morrinsville Wheelers riders had a strong North Westerly wind to contend with on Saturday (16th Aug) racing out from Bolten Road to Paratu Road circuit (two times for A & B Grade combined and one time for C Grade). Junior U13 had a out & back 12km race on their own.

REMINDER TO RIDERS:
There have been a few riders missing their starts lately. If you are not registered 20 minutes before the start of the race you could miss your start again. It is your responsiblity to be on time. If you intend to ride let Bev or Mark know in advance if you are running late so you can be included in the handicap. When riders turn up to race with only a handful of minutes spear they are altering the dynamics of bunches and makes life challenging for handicappers & time keepers!! Club racing usually starts on time - double check details of events on website!!

Open Race

The race on Saturday was a Mass Start with a Sealed Handicap. Weather conditions were so rough it made sense to let everyone to start together rather than small gaps with two or three riders. A/B Grade riders left first to head out for two circuit while C Grade did one circuit. The bunches combined in the finishing... Gavin Wolfe put in an excellent sprint to be the first U17 rider to finish.
