Waikato Bay of Plenty Individual Time Trial Championships - Long Course
Te Aroha - 12 April 2008

Blustery weather conditions were of no help to riders as they participated in the Waikato Bay of Plenty Individual Time Trial Championships in Te Aroha. The wind direction was south-easterly which meant that riders faced a side-head wind out, and the expected tail wind section was virtually non-existent as weather conditions worsened as the day went on. Sunny, no rain (what are we complaining about?). Put it this way, the normally fast Old Te Aroha-Gordon road was not proving up to expectations this time. Junior riders started at 11am had slightly easier conditions than the open section (starting from 1pm), although for all riders it was a tough day at the office.

Congratulations to medal winners, and welcome to our friends from other centres, we hope you enjoyed the atmosphere of the Waikato Bay of Plenty ran event.

Thank you to volunteers from Morrinsville Wheelers (the host club), also thank you to Dave May for STMS and Mark May, Colleen Bennett who were our turn marshalls today. It is a long day out there for turn marshalls. Thank you to Wayne Aberhart who held all riders to help them have a good send off into their time trial.

Thank you again to WBOP officials who again proved their weight in gold:
Event Manager: Bev May
Commissaires: Mark Ireland (chief), Ken Bewley
Time Keepers: Heather Smyth (chief), Brian Kelly, Graeme Bell, Bev May

Medal winners If riders from other centres won medals they received them, but WBOP centre still gave medals for the first three WBOP riders.
